From Brett: The title of my piece is
"Flathead Valley Thunderstorm"  - it is  one of my latest
limited edition giclee prints on canvas, and the image size
is 16"x20". The story behind this is as follows:

"Over the years, I've watched summer thunderstorms
that occur over the valley around sunset, to see if there
was some way to anticipate, even if only by a few
minutes, the dramatic lighting that so often escapes
artists and photographers. The conditions for this type of
dramatic lighting don't happen often, so I try to be
vigilant and watch for them. I think I've figured out the
approximate series of events necessary for this type of
sky to occur. While I'm not always correct, I've often
been able to predict about 20 minutes in advance when
the conditions are optimal for exceptional skies to
occur, which is just enough time to get into position to
capture the fleeting light that illuminates the clouds so
wonderfully. When the clouds, storm, and light cooperate,
I have to drop everything and rush to one of several
favorite spots and attempt to capture the amazing
lighting on the landscape that may only last a few
minutes before vanishing into the twilight. The careful
observer will notice that, while this scene is at sunset, the
view is looking to the East toward the Swan Range.   The
sunset was behind me. I hesitated to paint this because
many people might not believe it, but I'm glad I talked
myself into it.  I hope you enjoy it as well. "
