Supporting Live Music, Art, Live Entertainment and other Cultural Events Since 1997
Hot Springs Artists Society, Inc. is a non-profit corporation. Our tax exempt status
makes us a public charity. We are supported by memberships, charitable donations,
and fund raising events. Anyone can become a member of the society! We appreciate
your support and generosity. Our organization brings events to this small rural
community for the benefit of all.  We promote diversity, tolerance, education, culture,
art, and creative thinking!

The Hot Springs Artists Society was founded in 1997. In 1998 the Hot Springs
Artists Society was the winner of a grant titled "Arts Are Central To Our
Communities"  from the Montana Arts Council and The National Endowment For
The Arts.

The Artists Society has sponsored many fine musical performances by artists and
programs by visual artists. Musical performers have included:
Elinor Freer and David Ying and the Ying Quartet in Montana Summer Music -2002
and  2003; William Jackson, internationally renowned composer, harpist, and celtic
musician; Don Harmsworth, solo cello and composer; Leon Atkinson, classical and
jazz guitarist; cello music by Lee Zimmerman and many, many more.

We've had dancers including: Susan Faye Roberts; Pan African Drum and Dancers
and dance bands including the Al Lindborg Band and many other bands.

Theatrical performances included: "Letter to an Imaginary Friend" performed by Craig
Menteer and the Missoula Childrens Theater each year.

The Hot Springs Artists Society has sponsored artist's visits through Montana Arts
Council programs like "Artists in the School and Communities Program. Among those
are: Singing Technique and Music Appreciation by Bonnie Jean Triplett in 2001 in two
locations; The String Orchestra of the Rockies in the Hot Springs School in year
1999; Elinor Freer and David Ying and the Ying Quartet in Montana Summer Music
in 2002 and 2003 in Hot Springs and Plains, Montana. We also sponsor a Juried Art
show in May each year.

We help sponsor the Homesteader Days Main Street Stage and Street Dance, every
second weekend in June and bring musical venues to town each Friday and Saturday
night with the only method of payment being pass-the-hat, and we sponsor art and
healing arts workshops through out the year.

For the children in our community we fund music lessons and provide a summer arts
camp at no cost to the families, thanks to a grant from the Flathead Reservation and
Lake County Coalition for Kids.  Every year we bring the Missoula Childrens Theater
to our school for a residency and performance with our school children.  At
Halloween we support and present a Halloween Ghost walk for all citizens, young
and old.

We provided umbrella support for the Hot Springs Pool Committee, for the new
LaRue Hot Springs Historical Museum, and the Homesteader Pow-wow.

We also have several published writers writing fiction and nonfiction in our
community. They include Stan Stanhope, Liz Fee, Matt Pavelich, and Sharon Flesch.

Our board members hold strictly non-paying positions. Each member donates hours
of time each month to promote the Artists Society.
