August-September 2010 News from the President
Hello!! To All
From the Hot Springs Artist Society Inc., the Summer Arts Camp folks have been busy,
we have a great group of young people enjoying this years camp. After the first week of
swimming and music, we were off to a second week of woodworking and more. Making and
painting bird houses and jingle sticks and finishing with a fun clay class. The next week
specialized on the performing arts. Hope you did enjoy the youngsters for the play in the
park on July 23rd. It was fabulous! I would like to give a big THANK YOU to all who
donated their time, skills, energy to make the classes a success, and also for the snacks and
lunch the children enjoyed. BLESS YOU ALL!
It’s that time again, the HSAS board members have begun to work towards our Gala
Fundraiser, Silent Art Auction, Wine and Cheese Tasting Event in November. With lots to
do, we look forward to another splendid event. Anyone willing to donate items or help, would
be greatly appreciated, as this supports the future activities of this organization. Some of the
things the HSAS helps support is the Missoula Childrens Theater, the Summer Art Camp,
the Juried Art Show and opening reception, Open Art Shows, Childrens Music Lessons and
other programs to keep the Arts alive and growing in our community. Donations may be
made by contacting the HSAS at 741-2382 or 741-2059
Hope you continue to enjoy a very nice summer full of happy times!
Sincerely
President: Ma Brown Robbins
HELLO! April-May 2010 News from the President
I know you are enjoying this beautiful weather, it seems like spring. It’s a nice start to
a great spring for everyone.
The Missoula Childrens Theater was a great success, and we are on to plans for next
years show. It’s such an important activity for our children, and on behalf of the HSAS. I
would like to Thank everyone for the support and hard work that makes this and the many
other wonderful programs possible.
We are working on plans for the Hot Spring Artist Society’s Annual Meeting and
Membership Drive at the Symes Hotel May 23rd . There will be a talent show, lots of good
treats to eat and fun for all. Come out, renew your membership and enjoy our local talent
while meeting and voting for new Board of Directors members. This is your chance to give
direction to the HSAS and it’s activities so make your voice known with your vote! And
Thank You to Leslie and the Symes Hotel for hosting this event and many others for us,
along with the many talented musical artists that show their talents on weekends. The
HSAS is also working toward a summer arts program, fund raisers; various art classes and
wonderful art showings at the On the Wall Gallery, Wall St. Place. Thank You to the
Cavallini’s for the gallery area, and to all the many people who give their time and hard
work to help make this artist society successful in serving our community.
We have a Juried Art Show coming up in May, the deadline for entries is March 17th. If
you paint, sculpt, carve, do photographs or any other visual art form, please consider
entering. The Artists Reception will be Friday, May 8th from 6-8pm with awards at 7pm. We
are also hosting a 2 day workshop given by our judge Olivia Olsen of The Red Poppy on May

HELLO ART FRIENDS! June-July 2010 Letter from the President
I hope this letter finds everyone, enjoying the nice weather and feeling good. I would
like to say THANKS for the support you give to the Hot Springs Artist Society. And to all
those who work so hard to see these events are a success! We had a great turn out for the
Juried Art Show reception, at On the Wall Gallery, and several of the artists were there to
visit with us. There were ribbons for each subject, such as Best Landscape or Best Floral.
The top awards were RESERVE IN SHOW won by Lucky Howser of Hot Springs, MT and
BEST IN SHOW won by Vonnie Nuthak of Butte, MT. Congratulations and Thanks! The
show runs through June. Olivia Olsen of The Red Poppy did a wonderful job as our judge
giving much time and attention. She also gave a wonderful workshop. Thanks Olivia!
Due to conflicting events our Membership meeting and Talent show date has been changed
to JUNE 6th. The meeting is at 1pm with talent show to follow at 2pm. This is an important
event for the HSAS so please come and support us by renewing your membership and
contributing to the nominations and voting for board of directors. Then show off your talent
or just enjoy the friendship and good treats at the Annual Talent Show afterwards!
The HSAS will also be helping in some areas with Homesteaders Days, JUNE 11-13th. It
takes hard work and effort to keep Homesteaders Days happening every year and it’s a
great event for our town, so come on out and support the town and all the fun! Check out
www.hotspringsartist.org for a schedule.
The HSAS is also sponsoring a silk painting workshop with Julie Wulf on JUNE 19th at the
On The Wall Gallery. It will start at 10am. Bring a lunch and an idea (or drawing) of what
you want to do on the silk. Cost is $45 (for members- $50 non-members) including supplies.
Call me at 741-2059 or email marla@western-art.com to sign up or for questions.
Summer Arts Camp for our young people is fast approaching; the HSAS committee has been
setting up dates and teachers for an exciting and educational camp. We plan to use a
Homesteaders theme this year, and will focus on the areas past. We are looking at beginning
July 6th with music, painting, swimming, wood working and an arts performance. A sign up
form will be out soon with final dates, times and places with instructions and information for
joining the program. We look forward to it being educational and a very good time for the
children and parents.
Well I guess that covers things for now; I hear the Health Festival was very nice and full of
ideas and information on staying well. It’s great to see so much offered in this community
and so many folks willing to keep more events happening to enrich our lives! Best Wishes
and THANKS AGAIN!!
